Onward and Upward

First, I want everyone to know that Melayha made it home from India !  We are all grateful for her safe return.

Progress is going well with the school.  Below you will find the latest pictures.

As you can see, they are getting ready to install the roof.  The last photo is of the Ruben Laté and Gildas Amegbor — both from AHOE — the company that is building the school.

We have also been working hard on the Annie B fund Drive.  This is an extraordinary opportunity for all who want to help us in our mission because, during this drive, each of your dollars is worth more than a dollar because of matching grant money.  Please watch this video to learn more:

To all of you who have already donated to the Annie B Drive, THANK YOU SO MUCH!  Truely, you are the ones who make transcendence out of poverty not only possible, but REAL  We are just the facilitators.  You are the angels that make the dream a reality.

NEWS FROM INDIA???

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

My dear friend and board member of LeapingStone, Melayha Fluke, has been on a trip to India — specifically the Ladakh region.  She has been staying in Leh, the main city in this Himalayan area.

News was received that heavy overnight rains had caused huge mudslides there.  As of yesterday 125 people were confirmed dead.  The death toll is expected to rise as there are villages downstream that have yet to be reached by rescue teams.   Thousands more are homeless.

Thankfully,  Melayha is okay!

I spoke with her husband Matt last night, and he had two brief phone conversations with her.  Things are pretty confusing, but the guest house where she is staying was not hit.

The airport was damaged, but the runways have been cleared and relief flights are starting.  Melayha is trying to get home, but flights are limited.  I will let you know more as soon as I have more information.
